Shun'ei nishida

Shun’ei Nishida was born in Ise-City, Mie Prefecture in 1953 (Showa 28). In 1975, while studying at Musashino Art University, he was selected for inclusion in the 60th Inten exhibition.

In 1983, he received the Excellence Award at 7th Yamatane Museum of Art Museum Exhibition.  In the following year, 1984, he received the Grand prize at the Tokyo Central Art Museum' s Nihonga Award Exhibition. In 1993, as an overseas researcher at the Agency for Cultural Affairs, he lived in India for one year and started focusing on painting portrait. In 1995, at the 80th Inten Exhibition, he his portrait received the first prize and the 1st Adachi Museum Award. He held retrospective exhibitions at the Imai Art Museum in 2003 as well as Sogo Art Museum in 2016.  Currently, he is a member of the Japan Art Academy (Nihon Geijutsuin), a director and Dohnin of Japan Art Institute (Nihon BIjutsuin), a professor of Nihonga at Musashino Art University and emeritus professor at Hiroshima City University.
